Does the organic extractant get fouled by residuals from the dry film?
This type of problem has never been observed. We have observed, on some occasions, a build up of a slime in the mixer-settlers. This slime should be cleaned out once every year by draining the system and wiping down the plastic with a rag. The system can then be refilled with the material that was drained from the system. On two occasions, we had difficulty with the organic building up a crud that affected performance. We have since learned that this problem will not occur if fresh organic is added according to the recommended levels we supply with the unit.
Caution: Mono-amine are sometimes used in the process just upstream from the etcher. These amines should be well rinsed from the boards before etching since the amine can foul the organic.
