• Why do we have to use DI water for rinsing the boards and adding to the EW cell?

    * Typically city water is too high in carbonates. If you are using any tin/lead resist, the carbonate will cause a sludge to form in the rinsing chamber of the SX unit leading to poor performance.* If your rinse water is naturally soft you may not be required to use DI water.

    * Since the EW system is subject to a large amount of evaporation, the addition of any dissolved solids from a municipal water source will cause an undesirable buildup. Therefore only DI water should be used.

    * If you are not using any lead there should not be a sludge problem. Nonetheless, we do not recommend using rinse water high in carbonates.
